Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst copped a guilty plea to four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two more counts of oral copulation of a person under 18. Whitehurst, 28, will be on probation for five years once she completes her jail term, reports the Los Angeles Times. Assuming good behavior, she will do her time in a county jail. She must also submit to counseling and register as a sex offender for the rest of her life. The frisky AP English teacher had sex repeatedly with a now 17-year-old Citrus Valley High School student. The affair began at her apartment after a trip to Disneyland in 2012. “One thing led to another, and he ended up at her residence, and it’s been ongoing for approximately one year now,” explained a Redlands Police spokesman. On June 18, Whitehurst gave birth to a baby fathered by the unidentified teenage student with whom she had the yearlong love tryst. She had been charged with 41 felonies. Times. “It’s shocking anyone would face so little time for abusing minors. This is definitely being treated differently because they are boys and she is a woman.” James Gass, Whitehurst’s attorney, was much happier with the outcome. He said Whitehurst is “a clean-cut American girl sitting in jail, so she’s having a hard time. But she will be okay.” It’s not clear where or with whom Whitehurst’s new baby will live during her hiatus in the joint.
